I just wonder ...

Apropos of something or other, I recall seeing a television programme a year or so ago, in which Cherie Blair had a conversation with a priest-friend from her youth.  In those days she had spoken to him of her frustration with this or that aspect of the Church's teaching.  In reply, he had urged her to "stay in and try to change things".

I just wonder if this has also been the motive, partly or entirely, of one or two converts to the Church in recent decades: to come in and try to change things.

Methinks that you are, correctly imho, setting the cat among the pigeons!
You are expressing what many may wonder!

Perhaps he meant she should stay in and change herself!

Ah, Patricius, that reminds me of something one of the Polish bishops said in the early 1980s: "We all need conversion". Those words really struck home to me. Alas, in the context of the programme in question, I think it was the Church that CB's priest-friend suggested she try to convert - or divert.

My direct experience of two priests in the Clifton Diocese, one a late convert from the CofE both preached against the Magisterium and the parish, in question, seemed to always priests of that inclination. A bit like the CofE in many ways.
