In his blog,
What Does the Prayer Really Say?, Father Zuhlsdorf recently published the following:
http://wdtprs.com/blog/2009/08/the-1964-hyannisport-conclave-catholic-leaders-teaching-catholic-pols-how-to-ignore-evil/
It appears that, even as early as 1964, the dissent in the Church took the form of an alternative magisterium, to which certain politicians appealed as though it exercised a higher authority than the Pope.
As a former resident in the Diocese of Clifton and the magnificent county of Gloucestershire, I just want to say how nice it is to find someone blogging from those parts. I hope you find blogging fruitful and full of friendship. The Catholic blog world does seem to be (for the most part)an orthodox and safe community.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Rita - much appreciated. I am a very nervous beginner!
ReplyDeleteFollowing Ttony's invitation, I too say hello Dorothy.
ReplyDeleteStarting a blog is something which takes more courage than I possess.

Thank you, JARay - and all the way from Australia! I have read your comments on other blogs and have always found them very interesting. Perhaps you too will start a blog; at first I made myself the only reader, until I (more or less) overcame my nervousness. I'm so impressed by all the bells and whistles on the famous Catholic blogs; I'm not at all confident with technical things, so this blog is going to be rather Heath Robinson in comparison.
ReplyDeleteGosh Dorothy, you even remembered that I live down under!
ReplyDeleteI have been into one church in the Diocese of Clifton and that is in Dulverton. I thought it a little gem. I was on my way to Morebath which is a place I had to see since reading Eamon Duffy's books.

Hi Dorothy, welcome to Catholic blogland!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Kate. This is quite an adventure for me.
